Verna B. Estabrooks
Verna B. Estabrooks, 91, of Middle Sackville, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2009 at the Sackville Memorial Hospital.
Born August 22, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Leonard and Bertha (McFee) Estabrooks.
A strong and proud believer in Jesus Christ, she was a lifelong member of the Middle Sackville Baptist Church, where she was very active as a Sunday School teacher, choir member, and the Ladies Aid. She was a member of the New Brunswick Rifle Association, and represented New Brunswick in Ottawa for the right to represent Canada in England.
She loved her family, time in her garden and her kitchen. She demonstrated her hospitality by acts of caring for the needs of others.
She will be sadly missed by her three sons, Vincent, Frederick (Mary Jane) and George (Carol), all of Middle Sackville; eight grandchildren, Mark (Lorenda), Scott (Kristen), Alan, Nancy (Dave), Elizabeth, Wendy (Dave), Krista (Tom) and Matthew (Chrissy); nine great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband Lloyd B Estabrooks and daughter-in-law Gloria Estabrooks. The last surviving member of her immediate family, she was predeceased by siblings Freddy, Lionel, Junior, Ida and Ola.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville, N.B. (506) 364-1300) where visiting hours were held on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service took place on December 28, 2009 at 2 p.m. from the Middle Sackville Baptist Church, Pastor Vernon Vickruck officiating. Burial will take place in the Four Corners Cemetery.
