With heavy hearts and great sadness the family of Francis Aubrey ‘Bud’ Clarke, beloved father, grandfather, brother and uncle, regret to announce his passing on Sunday, June 3, 2012, at home.
Born in North Sydney, he was the son of the late Henry T. and Veronica (McCarthy) Clarke.
Francis was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 19, North Sydney and an avid dart player. He loved dancing and playing his guitar and playing with his grandchildren. He was a member of St. Matthew Wesley United Church, North Sydney.
Francis is survived by his children, daughters, Elaine (Fabian) Frye, and Tonya (Mitch) Cormier, both of North Sydney; sons, Harry, Alberta, Terry and Craig, both of North Sydney; his 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his siblings, sisters, June (Jack) Williams, Toronto, Leona (George) Smith, North Sydney, Veronica (Harrol) Pearson, Oklahoma; brothers, Reg (Sherry) Clarke, Lower Sackville, Edward (Pam) Clarke, Fall River and Roland (Lynn) Clarke, North Sydney. He will also be deeply missed by his numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Francis was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth (Jessome) Clarke; a son, David Wayne and daughter, Elizabeth Anne and a brother, Harry Clarke.
Visitation for Francis will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. David Luker officiating. Burial to follow in Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney.
Memorial donations may be made to the Nova Scotia Lung Association, Canadian Diabetes Association and the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
