GUIDO LUCA Guido Luca passed away peacefully with his family by his side on February 1, 2008 at the age of 71 years. Guido is survived by his loving wife Ida, his children, Maria (Ken) Hum and Frank (Angela) Luca and grandchildren Christopher, Daniel, Anthony and Stephanie. He is also survived by his brother Silvio (Rosetta), sisters-in-law Elena, Ilda, Linda and Bruna, numerous nieces and nephews and many other relatives in Italy, Germany and throughout Canada. Guido was predeceased by his parents Pasquale and Maria, his brothers Francesco, Dante, Eugenio and Luigi and his nephew Pasquale of Italy. Guido was born in Torano Castello, Cosenza, Italy on March 22, 1936. He grew up during the depression in Italy and although times were tough, he was part of a close knit family who always looked after each other. His father and brothers travelled to Canada to find work in the 1950's and Guido followed in 1956. His fiancÈ, Ida, later travelled from Italy to join him in Kamloops where they were married in 1961. Guido was employed as a rock scaler for the railways, Balco Sawmill and then the Tranquille School until it closed in the mid 1980's. Guido's special joy was found in his beloved grandchildren Christopher, Daniel, Anthony and Stephanie and he took great pride in their accomplishments. He will be remembered best for his sense of humour. He literally lived to make people laugh. Guido had a great inner strength and never let any setback or problem in his life bring him down. He had a high set of values, an undefeatable spirit and will be fondly remembered as a fun loving man who lived his life the way he wanted to. Prayers will be recited in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church on Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. The Reverend Father Peter Nguyen will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial in the Church on Wednesday, February 6, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. Guido will be laid to rest in Sage Valley Mausoleum, Hillside Cemetery, Kamloops.
