GORMAN, THOMAS - Thomas Gregory Gorman passed away on June 5, 2012 at the Saint John Regional Hospital with his family at his side. Born in Saint John and a life-long resident, Tom was the son of the late Louis W Gorman and Florence C. Garnett. Besides his parents, Tom was predeceased by his wife Francis J. Gillard of 54 Years; baby brother James J., and Walter L. Edward W., Louis C., Robert P., and sisters Helen F. Doyle and Barbara A. Lawlor. Tom was noted and proud to be the 7th son of the 7th son. He was educated in Saint John, graduating the last class out of St Vincent's Boys School. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion for past 38 years and a Life Member of the C N pensioners Association. Worked his early years at the Capitol, CHSJ, CN Rail, then onto VIA rail where he retired in 1991. He was a union activist in his many years of work being a Chairperson, Steward and President of his local, still being vocal on many issues after retirement. He was an avid history buff and world war historian and animal lover, spending many days feeding the birds at the local cemetery. He is survived by his only daughter Shawn and son-in-law Ty and the pride of his life his grandson Mike; brother Harold F.; sister-in-law Mary, sister-in-law Betty (Don), two sisters-in-law, several nieces and nephews; and two special friends Veronica Herminac and Loraine Wills.
Following cremation, visitations will be held from Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) on Thursday, June 7th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A celebration of life will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, June 8th at 11 a.m., followed by a reception at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 69. Interment will take place in Greenwood Cemetery following the reception.
