Coady, Kathleen Bishop “Kay” - Truro, passed away December 29, 2009 after a lengthy illness. Born in Lawrencetown, Annapolis Co., she was a daughter of the late Paul B. and Blanche (Bishop) Durling. Kay was a graduate of Acadia University with B.A. and B.Ed. Degrees. For thirty years after graduation she taught in Nova Scotia high schools, where she was a well known and respected teacher. For the past 57 years she has resided in Truro, where her husband, Lloyd, was employed with the Canadian Forestry Service. Active in community affairs, Kay served as secretary of the Colchester Hospital Auxiliary for two years and did volunteer work in the Hospital Gift Shop. She was a member and Past President of the Truro University Women’s Club; also, a member of the Westmount Park Garden Club, where she served as both President and Secretary. She was accomplished at whatever she turned her hand to. She produced many beautiful needle point pieces. Surviving are her husband, Lloyd Coady; son, Dr. Paul Coady and wife Brenda, Annapolis Royal; sister, Miriam Whitman, Bridgetown; brother, Les Durling, Middleton; three precious granddaughters, Emily, Rebecca, and Hilary Coady; several cousins, nieces and nephews. She will be lovingly remembered as a devoted wife, caring mother, proud grandmother and best friend. Special appreciation for the care provided to Kay is extended by the family to the VON, Drs. Tanya Munroe and Jean Cameron and Ruth and George Naugler. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 1st from 7-9 pm in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro. A Memorial mass will be held on Saturday, January 2nd at 11am in Immaculate Conception Church, 669 Prince Street, Truro, with Father Dariusz Miskowicz as celebrant. Spring interment in Robie Street Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Victorian Order of Nurses, the Arthritis Society, or the Canadian Cancer Society.
