Lieu de naissance : Colombie Britannique, Canada

Lieu de décès : Colombie Britannique, Canada

LAXTON 1934 ~ 2008 George H. Laxton of Kamloops passed away on February 14, 2008 at 73 years of age. Survived by his loving children, Dawn (Reid) of Burnaby, Sean (Dallas), Doug (Kari) and Corey all of Kamloops. He also leaves to cherish his memory, seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, brothers Ken Laxton and Clem Edwards as well as many nieces and nephews. George was predeceased by his wife Lynn in 2007, sister Doreen, mother Beatrice and father Tom. George was born in Mission City, March 20, 1934. Later in life, George was the zamboni man in the local Arenas for 40 years. He took huge pride in the fact that Kamloops had the best hockey ice, some said in all of Canada. The Memorial Arena was his second home until Riverside Coliseum opened and with continued pride, he moved into the new barn to continue the Kamloops hockey legacy. Past Blazers hockey coaches will still say, "George made great ice, even in poor conditions". After his retirement from the City of Kamloops in 1997, George was asked to help the Ice Box to open its doors. He was apparently one of the only men in Canada who knew how to make a sheet of ice on sand. George continued to work there until his health wouldn't allow him to work anymore. George also loved hunting and fishing with his sons and grandchildren. He was a big part of curling, figure skating, K.I.B.I.H.T., and hockey for a long time and will be very missed. Special thanks to the nursing staff at 6th South at Royal Inland Hospital, Dr. Stewart and Dr. Leung. In Memory of George, a donation may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 685 Victoria Street, Kamloops, BC, V2C 2B3. Kamloops Funeral Home 554-2577 Condolences may be emailed to Sympathy@shawbiz.ca
