Lieu de naissance : Sambro Head, Nouvelle Ecosse, Canada
Date de naissance : 16 septembre 1920

Lieu de décès : Canada
Date de décès : 7 juin 2012

On June 7, 2012, her final prayer having been answered, Mum departed to join her beloved husband, Bob.
Born in Sambro Head, N.S., Sept. 16, 1920, she was the daughter of the late David and Isabel (Nickerson) Gray.
Following the untimely death of her father in 1939, she moved to Halifax with her sister, Myrtle. While employed in Halifax, she met her future husband, Bob and following his discharge from the Navy in 1945, they married and moved to Port Morien.
Mum quickly became part of the local community, joining St. Paul’s Anglican Church, as well as the ACW, Gowrie Home and School and a Port Morien Women’s Club. She was an active participant in the Morien Community Fair from its inception, winning the overall first prize on many occasions. Well known for her cookies and homemade Popsicles, she was a favourite mother among the neighbourhood children.
She remained active in the community for many years, knitting innumerable mittens and socks, baking countless pies, cakes and cookies and participating in numerous community events. She was part of a large contingent of women who contributed to making our community such a great place in which to grow up and to live.
Her activities were somewhat limited in later years, but her mind remained clear to the end and she was an avid reader and telephone conversationalist. She especially enjoyed her Tuesday evening calls with her sister, Pearl, which typically extended beyond her bedtime as they shared memories of over eight decades of life. As well there were frequent calls from her children and grandchildren. Having lived a long and exemplary life, she leaves with no regrets and nothing owed.
Predeceased by husband, Bob, parents, sisters, Myrtle (Arthur), Hamilton, Sadie Racine and brother, Joe.
She is survived by sister, Pearl (Allan) Simmons, Cobden, Ont.; children, Ron (Liz), Glen (Margaret), Port Morien, Dave (Donna), Caplin Cove, N.L., Wendy Lee (Bill McKay), Elgin, N.B.; as well as seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
No visitation. Cremation has taken place.
Funeral service will be held Monday, June 11 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Port Morien, with Rev. Judi Phillips officiating. Interment at Black Brook Cemetery. Reception to follow at Kent Hall.
Donations may be made to St. Paul’s Memorial or Cemetery Fund.
