Emelio Daniel (Dan) Alexander Ranni passed away peacefully on December 15th, 2009 at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, BC.
He was born on November 17, 1942 in Sydney, Nova Scotia.
He will be dearly missed by his wife Nora, daughters Gina and Lisa, son-in-law Paul and grandson Kyle. Dan is also survived by former wife Loreli Ranni; brothers and sisters and their families in Nova Scotia and Ontario, Nora’s family in Costa Rica and friends across Canada.
Dan spent 25 years in the Military with the PPCLI, RCOC, Service Battalion, as well as serving in the Middle East. After retirement in 1985, Dan began working for the University of Calgary in Chemistry Stores and Residence Services. Dan enjoyed travelling, spending time with family and friends and reliving memories with his military buddies.
A special thank you to Dr. J. S. Baidwan and Dr. D. Glen of Victoria, BC for the patience and special care they provided Dan.
A celebration of Dan’s life will be held on January 4, 2010 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion, Kensington Branch, 1910 Kensington Road NW, Calgary, AB.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Lung Association.
