Frances MacDonald of Ottawa, Ont., first child born in 1915 to Edward and Winnifred Lisle (both deceased). Beloved wife of the late Angus James MacDonald, formerly of North Bedeque, P.E.I. Mother and best friend to Dawn Deme (Steven), the late Ian MacDonald (Mary), Karen Laughlin (Terrence), Sandra MacDonald-Rencz (Andrew) and Margaret MacDonald Jones (Russell). Cherished Nana of Sean (Elizabeth) and Sarah Laughlin, Edward (Deb) and Jennifer MacDonald, Matthew, Amanda and Benjamin Rencz and Gran-nana of Angus and Evan MacDonald and Sophia and Liam Laughlin. Big sister and best friend of Winnifred MacDonald (the late Alban, brother of Angus James, also from North Bedeque) and Edward Lisle (Betty). Frances grew up in Ottawa and graduated from Loretta College, University of Toronto with a bachelor of arts (English literature) in 1938. She met her husband Angus at the wedding of her sister Win to his brother Alban and they married the following year. Frances and Angus raised their five children in Kingston, Ontario – he working at Alcan and she returning to work as an elementary and later high school teacher when her own children were all in school. They later retired to Ottawa. They maintained their island connection throughout their marriage and in their retirement they built the family cottage at MacCallum's Point, in Lower Bedeque. Frances had an amazing capacity for enduring friendships beginning with her sister Win, her teaching colleagues and students in Kingston, Ont., the Ottawa MacDonald clan, the Lisle family and Angus' and her P.E.I. relatives and friends from their glorious summers at their cottage, especially the Buleys, the Afflecks, the Dodds, the D. Alex MacDonald family and her "touring-the-island buddies" – the late Jean McCall and Jennie McLure.
