CHASE, Eva Delores “Mom Chase” – 77, Truro, passed away peacefully, with her loving family at her side, on Tuesday, December 29, 2009, in the VG Site, QEII, Halifax. Born December 26, 1932, in Truro, she was a daughter of the late Stephen and Georgina (Johnson) Johnson. In earlier years, Eva and her family attended Saint John The Evangelist Anglican Church. She worked for the G.I. Smith and Paul Zann families with whom she became wonderful friends before working at the Stonehouse Motel as head housekeeper until her retirement in the early 1980s. She was a loving and devoted family woman who welcomed everyone into her home. In her spare time, she loved to fish for trout, painting and listening to country and western music that starred Willie Nelson and George Jones. Eva is survived by her children, Brian, Truro; Phillip (Tracey Luckyfassel), Paula Johnson, Edmonton; Susan “Susie” Chase, Truro; Robert, Winnipeg; Gregory “Greg”, Truro; Gwendolyn “Gwen” Chase-Pash, Edmonton; Ellen Hooks (Norman Hubbert), Truro; Donald Tibbetts, Jr., Truro; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; sister, May Edison, Saint John, New Brunswick. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Robert Edmund Chase; sisters, Doris Wareham, Annie Johnson and one other in infancy; brothers, George and Stephen Johnson; step-mother, Evelyn Hamilton; former husband, Donald Tibbetts, Sr. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Eva’s family will receive friends from 2-4, 6-8 pm today, December 31, 2009, from where the funeral service will be held 2 pm, Saturday, January 2, 2010, Pastor Brian Johnston officiating.
