David 'Ted' Forgeron

David 'Ted' Forgeron

With sadness, the Forgeron family announces the passing of our husband, father and grandfather, Ted.
The oldest son of the late Ambrose Forgeron and Eunice McDougall, he was born David Ambrose, but called Ted from a young age.
His life stretched across Canada in his early years as he worked in Toronto at 19, the Royal Canadian Air force in Greenwood in his 20s, and then to Goose Bay Labrador. His evening conversation always included fond recollection of the time and place where he met his wife of 47 years, Muriel.
He believed firmly in the capacity of all people to excel, and to grasp broader opportunities through knowledge and education. At 38 he completed his high school equivalency and Millwright trade program leading him to work at Gulf Oil in Port Hawkesbury and the Seaboard Power Station in Glace Bay.
At all of these places he made lifelong friends that held tremendous respect for his capacity to work for the betterment of his family and the community in which he lived.
His final years, until his very last day, were spent as a fisherman in the land that he loved, and where his passions for family, community, and the ocean could co-exist. He lived his life according to values shaped by teaching and experience, practicing right over wrong and he leaves a legacy of beliefs and principles for his family and friends to honour.
Ted is survived by his wife, Muriel and his sons, Michael and Ian. Their wives, Kim and Michelle share in their loss, as does his granddaughter, Hannah. She will miss her Poppy but is happy he is at peace. His brothers Roy, Sid, Bill, Sandy and sister, Charlotte, are all home to share memories and celebrate his life.
Ted was predeceased by his brother, Joe, and sister, Regina.
A wake celebrating his life and legacy will be held in the Immaculate Conception Parish Church in Main-A-Dieu on Tuesday evening, June 12, 2012, after 6 p.m. as well as the afternoon and evening of Wednesday June 13 beginning at 2 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, June 14 at 2 p.m. with Rev. S. Rajasekar officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery immediately following the service, and people are invited to the join the family afterwards in the parish hall for conversation and sustenance.
Donations in Ted’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
