Our hearts are broken. Our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Charleen Ada Fraser, ‘Nanny’, passed away peacefully on Dec. 29, 2009, at the Victoria County Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Middle River, Ada was the daughter of the late Danny and Belle (Carmichael) MacQuarrie.
Ada was a member of Farquharson Presbyterian Church and AMS in Middle River. She was a member of the Middle River Highlands Senior’s Club. She very much enjoyed all the social events (especially tea and sweets). She held every member very dear to her heart. Her whole life was dedicated to her family and her home. She maintained all of it with deep faith, love and understanding of others needs, which always came before her own. Our mother was truly a precious gift. She loved deeply — and was deeply loved.
Ada is survived by her five children, Isabell (Richard Delcore), Donald (Lynette), Willard (Marlene), Kathy, Malcolm (Jacqueline) as well as 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Close brother-in-law, Kenneth (Marion); sisters-in-law, Virginia and Minnie and many nieces and nephews.
Ada was predeceased by her husband, soulmate and best friend, Angus ‘Poppy’ and brother, Dave MacQuarrie. She will also be sadly missed by a close family friend, John and faithful companion Billy.
Ada will be resting at Farquharson Presbyterian Church, Middle River. Visitation will take place Friday, Jan. 1, 2010, from 2-8 p.m. Funeral service will take place Saturday, Jan. 2 at 11 a.m. Internment to follow in the Middle River Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Victoria County Hospital, District 8, Palliative Care.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of the Sunset Funeral Co-operative, Margaree Valley.
