Donald Mills
Donald McLaughlan Mills, 81, of Lyons Brook, passed away peacefully at the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, with his loving family beside him.
Born in Springhill, he was a son of the late Harry and Barbara (Jeffers) Mills.
After returning to Nova Scotia from Ontario in the late 1950’s, he owned his own garage in Lyons Brook and was then employed with the Pictou Shipyard until retirement. He was a daily Tim Horton’s groupie in the morning and could always be found around horses at the Pictou Exhibition grounds. He had touched the hearts of many. He had a huge heart and lived life to the fullest. Don was always good for cracking jokes and no one ever frowned when he was around.
He will be deeply missed by his wife of 59 years, Esther (DeLong) Mills; his daughters: Valerie LeBlanc, Pictou; Ruth (Allan Crowe), Calgary; Karen (James) Hubley, Timberlea; his sister, Lucetta Cleveland, North Vancouver; his brothers: Harry, Trenton, Ontario; William, Springhill; Marvin, Stillwater Lake; his loving grandchildren: Toni Leblanc (Stephen MacLennan), Donald LeBlanc; step-granddaughters, Lynn Hubley and Lisa Quirk; great-grandson, Chase MacLennan and three step-great-grandchildren: Cameron Jelinek, Jordan and Taylor Quirk.
There will be an open house on Sunday, June 17, from 1-3 p.m. at the Pictou County Light Horse Club Building, Pictou.
Donations in Don’s memory may be made to the Arthritis Society or a charity of your choice.
