Catherine (Cathy) Jean Roper - 56 years of Springhill, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday, June 13, 2012. Born in Glace Bay, Cape Breton, she was a daughter of the Late Robert and Barbara (MacKinnon) Booth.
A registered nurse, she graduated from St. Martha's School of Nursing, Antigonish in 1975, accepting a position at All Saint's Hospital, Springhill where she nursed for 37 years. A giving person, she carried her nursing and talents beyond her job into the community. A lover of life she enjoyed travel, motorbikes, quiet times on the beach and would "try anything once".
Cathy will be sadly missed by her daughter, Kelli and son, Robert (Erin) both of Springhill; grandson, Kieran, the "apple of her eye"; a brother, William (Nancy) Booth, Antigonish and a sister Susan (Troy) Booth, Sydney, NS; nieces, Tracey and Andrea; nephews, Ian and Brett; a very large extended family; partner in life Rick Smith and partner in crime, Bonnie McNeil.
She was predeceased by her husband Roger Roper in 2003 and a brother, Robert "Bobby" Booth.
Funeral arrangements under the care and supervision of A. H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane Street, Springhill, (902 597 2361) from where visitation will be held Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at 2 pm from the funeral home with The Reverend Bob Mack officiating. Burial in Hillside Cemetery, Springhill. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or charity of donor's choice gratefully accepted.
