DONALD CARSON MARKS March 24, 1929 - March 8, 2008 Donald Carson Marks had a place in the hearts of many and will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by family and friends. Don passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 8, 2008 at the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Hospice House. Born in Saint Boniface, Manitoba on March 24, 1929, he was predeceased in 1993 by his beloved wife Sumiko Marks, and by his parents William (Bill) Marks, and Nellie (Nell) Marks. He will be forever remembered by his dear companion Joan Campbell and her two sons, together with numerous nieces, nephews, and his many relatives from the Kobayashi family. After graduating from Gordon Bell High School, Don commenced employment with Manitoba Telephone where he worked from 1947 to 1956. He moved to British Columbia later that same year, settling in Murrayville, B.C. It was during this time that he began his career as a Public Health Inspector. After a brief relocation to Ft. St. John, he transferred to Creston, B.C. where he remained for several years, until his move to Kamloops. He was employed for over 20 years in that capacity with the South Central Health Unit until his retirement in 1987. Don's reputation was that of a consummate professional, being highly regarded by co-workers and clients alike for his attention to detail and his uncompromising level of fairness. Don mentored many new and student Health Inspectors over the years, and willingly shared his knowledge and expertise with them. In his retirement, Don enjoyed listening to classical music, and times spent travelling, while also deriving much pleasure and enjoyment in photography. As well, over the years he spent many active hours pursuing his interest in woodworking. We would like to thank Dr. Wilson, the RIH staff at 3 West and the staff at the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Hospice House for the care and compassion shown to Don during his illness. There will be no service by request. Arrangements entrusted to Kamloops Funeral Home
