HAZEL PEARL TUOHEY December 3, 1927 - March 15, 2008 With sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, sister and friend, Hazel Tuohey. Hazel was born in Ashcroft and watched this town grow. She was a direct descendent of the founding pioneers who built the first Ashcroft Hotel and her great grandfather's actually owned the acreage that became the town of Ashcroft. Mom always teased that she owned the soil that we walk on. Hazel was a determined advocate for saving the history of this little village, helping preserve the stories of the people who built Ashcroft. She was a loyal and hard working member of the St. Alban's Anglican Church and loved her family and was delighted to be the proud great grandmother. She spent nearly 20 years cooking for the staff and patients at the Ashcroft Hospital, where her zest for adding just a dash of this or that not listed in the recipe was much appreciated by all because the Hospital's kitchen actually served up food with flavour when Mom was in charge of the cooking pots.
