IN LOVING MEMORY OF KATHERINE HORTON Katherine (Kay) Horton, with her loving family by her side, passed away peacefully on 23 March 2008 at Dania Home in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. Born in Bosnia, Yugoslavia in 1924, she was the second child of Elizabeth and Johann Katarius. Her family immigrated to Kamloops in 1930 where Kay resided for 69 years. In 1943 she married Harold Horton and had four children: Roberleigh (Horton) and Karl Zimmermann, children, Hirshol, Erich, Philip and Peter; Phora Horton, children, Cheri, Chonna and Aaron; Rhio and Lois Horton, children Kenneth, Haeley and Dalyce; Robert and Karin Horton, children, Leah, Spencer and Elise. As a young girl, Kay worked on the family's farm and for many years was on the switchboard at Woodward's department store where many people will remember her wonderful, expressive voice. Kay and Harold traveled to Europe, the U.S. and Canada to visit many family members and friends. Kay Horton was a woman who accepted everyone with love and grace. She was a marvelous, Mother, Sister, Mother-in-law, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and friend. We will all miss her loving touch, twinkling eyes, beautiful smile and genuine laughter.
