PATRICIA HOLMES 1921 ~ 2008 Patricia Holmes passed away peacefully at 96 years of age on March 18, 2008 in the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Memorial Hospice House. She was a mother to Dick (Shirley) Holmes; a grandmother to Pattie Anne Wallace (Bruce Paris), Ward (Maureen) Holmes, and Kathy (Fred) Lemay; a great grandmother to Sean Wallace and Kristen Wallace, Holly (Ross) Bastion, Michael Holmes and Emily Holmes, Danielle (Scott) Medernach, and Stacie Renfrow and Steven Renfrow; and, for a few weeks, a great great grandmother to Kade Medernach. Also left to mourn is her brother Gerry (Teresa) Conlon and many nephews and nieces. Having lived many years in Ottawa apart from her immediate family, her nephews and nieces became surrogate sons and daughters. During the past decade she lived in British Columbia and enjoyed the closeness of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had a great love for all of her family who loved her greatly in return. She also leaves at Berwick on the Park (Kamloops, BC) and at Canada Way Lodge (Burnaby, BC) many good friends among the residents and staff. Her friends at Oxbow, Saskatchewan date back to happy times many years ago. These many relatives and friends made her last years as enjoyable as they could possibly be. The best years of her life were lived with her husband (Perce Holmes, in Toronto during the 1930's and early 40's and in Oxbow, Saskatchewan from 1944 until Perce's death in 1960). She was predeceased not only by her husband but also by her six sisters, Eileen, Noreen, Mary, Sylvia, Claudine and Anita and two of her brothers Nay and Jim. We like to think that she is once again being welcomed back to the very good times she enjoyed in the company of her husband and her brothers and sisters. A Memorial Tea in Pat's honour will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, March 31, 2008 at Berwick on the Park and a graveside service will be held in the fall at Oxbow, Saskatchewan.
