(1933-2012)–Passed peacefully away at Chancellor Park, St. John’s, formerly of Gander and Fox Harbour. Predeceased by his wife Mary, parents William and Pauline, infant son John, sister Kitty (Duke) and brother John. Leaving to mourn his three sons: Michael, Paul (Cindy) and Sean (Jennifer); grandchildren: Shingi, Kristen, Caitlin, Nora and Emily; sisters: Susan Mandeville (Malachy), Mary Murray (Mike Hawco) and Anna Lear (Gerald) and many friends and relatives. Special thanks to the caregivers at Chancellor Park and those who cared for him privately in recent years. Mike spent his career as a Flight Service Specialist (Radio Operator) with Transport Canada in Gander, where he was a dedicated volunteer with various organizations including the Knights of Columbus. He also played a key role in establishing and growing the Canadian Diabetes Association throughout the province, serving as President of the Newfoundland Division and representing the province at the national board level. He was widely known for his good humor and quiet charm and his smile and gentle ways made him friends wherever he went. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, 84 LeMarchant Road, St. John’s on Monday from 6 p.m.- 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. Funeral Mass of Christian burial will take place on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. from Corpus Christi Church with interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
