Ida Viola (O’Toole) Glinsky, age 80, of Sydney Mines passed away Saturday, June 16, 2012 at Oceanview Manor, Eastern Passage.
Born in Sydney Mines, she was the daughter of the late Timothy O’Toole and Dolly MacAskill. The Glinsky home was always a hub of activity and where friends and family would congregate. Ida would make everyone feel welcome in the family home in Sydney Mines and it was also known to have the best parties. No one ever left disappointed as there was always plenty of food, drinks and a lot of laughs.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, John Glinsky.
She is survived by son, Brian (Jacqueline); daughter, Irene (Greg). Ida was very proud of her two children, Brian and Irene, and would take every opportunity to brag about their many accomplishments to anyone who would listen. She is also survived by sisters, Jean (George), Annie, Marjorie (Patrick) and Dolena; brothers, Wilfred (Mary), John (Josephine), William; and three beautiful granddaughters, Victoria, Sarah and Emily.
She was predeceased by brothers, Gordon and Roddie.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held in JA Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., Halifax, N.S., B3S 0E1 (455-0531) on Thursday, June 21, 2012 at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
A special memorial mass and interment will be held in Sydney Mines at a later date.
