Lieu de naissance : Alder Point, Nouvelle Ecosse, Canada
Lieu de décès : Glace Bay, Nouvelle Ecosse, Canada
Date de décès : 18 juin 2012
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, William Wallace Rasmussen, 77, of Glace Bay.
Walt, as he was known by most, passed away suddenly at home on Monday, June 18, 2012.
Born in Alder Point, he was the son of the late Wallace and Catherine (Kernic) Rasmussen and was a member of St. Mary’s Anglican Church in Glace Bay.
In earlier years, Wallace worked as a mechanic for businesses in the Sydney area, but for the last 25 years, he was the owner and operator of Walt’s Auto Repair in Glace Bay and this was a job that he truly enjoyed.
Besides doing mechanical work he also enjoyed doing yard work, taking drives to the country especially to go fishing, playing darts with his wife Alice in the mixed league at the Hub Club and he enjoyed all the family road trips in their van to Ontario and around the Maritimes.
Walt loved life and had a great sense of humour. He will be remembered for his laugh and more importantly his ability to make others laugh.
Wallace will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Alice (Bradbury) Rasmussen; daughters, Lois Pace and Carole Ann (Randy) Brown, both of Glace Bay; son, Michael (Marsha), Inverness; sister, Phyllis (Curly) Woods, Ontario; grandchildren, Tanya Boutilier, Michael Pace, Adam Rasmussen, Mark Rasmussen, Scott Rasmussen, Lisa (Derrick) McCullough, Jessica Brown; great-grandchildren, Brianna Boutilier, Alyssa Boutilier, Andrew Boutilier.
Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by a sister, Mary and a brother, Bill.
In honouring Wallace’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay.
A graveside service, conducted by Rev. Vernon Reid, will be held 11 a.m., Friday, June 22, 2012, at Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney.
As an expression of sympathy for Wallace, memorial donations in his memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Online condolences to the Rasmussen family can be expressed at www.vjmcgillivray.ca.
