POUL BREDAHL SORENSEN
August 12, 1928 – June 11, 2012
Poul passed on unexpectedly with his son Eric by his side. Born in Copenhagen, Denmark, he discovered a love for the sea; this evolved into a long career as a Marine Engineer.
Seeking adventure, Poul came to Halifax, then worked aboard the C.G.S. Labrador, the first ice breaker through the Northwest Passage.
Poul then returned to Denmark where he met his wife, convincing her to come to Canada and out to B.C. where he worked for Canadian Pacific for 25 years aboard the Carrier Princess.
When he wasn’t making model ships or planes, Poul enjoyed many outdoor excursions exploring beautiful B.C. with his dear wife Inger. Upon retirement, they settled on the Sunshine Coast where they loved their daily walks in the woods.
Poul is predeceased by his wife Inger. Survived by his two sons, Poul Jr. (Carmen) and Eric; and grandchildren Derek and Anika.
Many thanks to the wonderful staff at Totem Lodge and special thanks to Sonny, for their genuine care and compassion.
A service will be held later this summer at the Danish Lutheran Church in Burnaby.
