PHYLLIS GATES (nee Rushton) January 9, 1938 - April 22, 2008 With deep and profound sorrow we announce the passing of one amazing woman. Phyllis was born in Springhill, Nova Scotia. Predeceased by her daughter Doris and her parents. She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband of 32 years Jim, two daughters Jaimie (Jason) of Kamloops, and Donna, two sons Donald and John, all of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, six grandchildren Paige, Genaya, Sadie of Kamloops, Tasha, Bradley, Melissa, and four great-grandchildren, all of Nova Scotia, two brothers Elmer (Iris) of Red Deer, AB, James (Marilyn) of Meredith, New Hampshire, cousins, aunts, nieces, nephews, numerous close friends and In-laws. Mom and Dad were married in Nappan, Nova Scotia on August 21, 1976. Nova Scotia remained their home until 1985 when they moved to Toronto, but Mom always wanted to see the mountains out west. In 1986 enroute to Cherry Creek, Mom, Dad and I stopped at a small restaurant in Valleyview. She loved the area so much that they remained right behind that little restaurant until her passing. Mom's life was her family. She welcomed everyone in with open arms. She was our rock who kept us all strong. She will be missed immensely. There will be a gathering in her honour, at Jaimie and Jason's as per her request, on Saturday, May 3, 2008.
