Anne Lillian "Queen Anne" Bragg (nee Dinham)
Date de décès : 24 juin 2012
Born June 20, 1931 in St. Jacques, Newfoundland. Anne passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on June 24, 2012 at Northwood Centre. Anne started teaching school at an early age and later became a vice principal at Springdale Street Elementary School in St. John’s NL. She met the love of her life, Rupert, to whom she was married for 44 years before he passed away in 1997. They had five children together and shared many joyous times including family picnics, summer camping, playing cards, bowling and most especially, family suppers. Anne volunteered over the years with various organizations such as Big Bras d’Or Fire Ladies Auxiliary, Ocean View Manor, St. Andrew’s Anglican Parish in Cole Harbour and later, St. John’s Westphal Anglican Church - “The Little Church With The Big Heart.” Her greatest passion and joy in volunteering was with the NS Literacy Foundation as she shared her teacher’s heart to give others the gift of reading and writing. Anne herself loved to read, sit by the ocean, write poetry and especially play scrabble and WIN!! Anne is survived by her sister, Effie George, children Dianne Bragg, Rhonda Doherty (Richard), Paul Bragg (Katherine), Yvonne Timmins (Bruce) and Christine Bragg. She was blessed with 10 grandchildren Jason Doherty, John Squires, Stephen Squires, Laura Barry, Shane Timmins, Heather Bragg, Susan Bragg, Grace-Anne Timmins, Abbey DeRoach, Cody DeRoach and 7 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many good friends. Anne was predeceased by her husband Rupert, her parents Albion and Harriet Jane Dinham, brothers Clyde and John, sisters Gladys and Olive. A very special thanks to all the staff of Northwood 4 Centre who became her “other” family. They treated her with such love and kindness for which her children will be eternally grateful. They truly enjoyed her quick Newfie wit and humour. Visitation will be held 6:30-8:30 pm Wednesday, June 27, 2012 in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth. A private family service and burial will be held on Thursday. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to Northwood Nursing Home 4 Centre in loving memory of Anne Bragg.
