BLACK, ROBERT R. - 1940 - 2012 - Bob Black of Riverview passed away on June 25th at The Moncton hospital, surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late Robert and Olive (Rogers) Black. He lived most of his life in Riverview and in his early years spent a great deal of time volunteering with the Boy Scouts of Canada. He was an active member of The Moncton Golf and Country Club and UCT and was an avid outdoorsman. Bob began a career with Gillette Canada in 1966 and was there until his retirement in 1998. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 50 years, Lois (McConnell) Black, his two children, Robert (Erin) of Quispamsis; Kimberley of Moncton; and his five grandchildren whom he adored, Benjamin, Gabriella, Molly, Anne and Tessa. He also leaves to mourn his brother Dennis (Barbara) of Port Alberni, BC, and several extended family members and friends. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Nancy Black Tingley.
The family will be receiving friends and relatives at Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Rd. Riverview, (869-2007) on Thursday from 6 to 8pm. A celebration of Bob's life will be held on Friday, June 29th, at 1pm from Cobb's Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Rev. Andrew O’Neill officiating. The interment will take place at Fair Haven Memorial Gardens, Salisbury Rd, Moncton. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Friends of The Moncton Hospital Palliative Care Unit or a charity of the donor's choice would be apprieciated by the family.
