Lieu de décès : Colombie Britannique, Canada

LESLIE JEWELL 1937 - 2008 With much sadness, Leslie passed away peacefully during the evening of May 20, 2008, surrounded by his loving family at Royal Inland Hospital. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Margaret and by his four daughters, Jo-Ann (Larry) Sherman, Prince Rupert, Sandra (Tony) Mott, Kamloops, Lorna (Mark) Hendrickson, Chase and Maureen (Don Gibb), Kamloops. He also leaves his four grandchildren, who were much loved by Grampa, Ryne Mott, Alan, Kevin and Alison Sherman and his six step-grandchildren and families. He leaves behind his two sisters Brenda (Eddie) Smith and Alice Rex both of Vernon and sisters in law Margo Jewell, Athabasca, AB and Sharon Jewell, Kelowna and his brother in law Butch (Jane) Povoas, Kamloops and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Harold (1963), Ruby (1965) and his two brothers, Malcolm (1988) and Bob (1992). Les was born August 8, 1937 in Darling, Alberta and grew up in Athabasca. The family moved to the Winfield area of B.C. when Les was 12. They lived in Rutland, Enderby and then Kamloops. Les graduated from Kam High in 1956 and married his true love in 1957. During high school Les was involved in all the team sports and he then played men's soccer during the early years of marriage. He was a scout leader in Westsyde and coached junior soccer. He worked his entire career (36 years) for B.C. Hydro as a lineman. Upon his retirement (1990) he fulfilled a long-time dream of a "retirement" home at the lake (Chase, B.C.). Les loved gardening, yard work and golfing. Winters were spent in sunny Arizona where time was spent desert hiking (with Tom) and time at the pool but most of all he loved his family and all the times we were together. A special thank you to Dr. Doug Hamilton for his care and compassion over the years and to the nurses on 3 West (Cari and Allison) for their kindness and caring. In lieu of flowers, donations in Les's memory, to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, 203 - 635 Victoria Street, Kamloops, B.C. V2C 2B3 or the Canadian Cancer Society, Unit 111, 450 Lansdowne Street, Kamloops, B.C. V2C 1Y3 would be appreciated. Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 30 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chase Community Hall, with interment taking place in the Chase Cemetery, followed by a tea at the Community Hall.
