Lieu de décès : Colombie Britannique, Canada

JORYE JO YU YEUNG June 5, 1997 - May 24, 2008 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of a beloved son, brother, grandson and friend. On Saturday, May 24, 2008 at BC Children's Hospital in Vancouver, Jorye lost his courageous battle with cancer. Jorye will be lovingly remembered by his mother Hoa, his father Victor and his sister Gikie. Also mourning his loss is his maternal grandmother Y Truong, his maternal grandfather Cao Truong of Saskatoon, Sask., and his paternal grandmother Sui Fan Chan of Hong Kong. Jorye has gone to be with his paternal grandfather Chi Po Yeung who passed away a month before Jorye was born. Jorye's extended family includes aunts, uncles and cousins from Richmond, Saskatoon and Sweden. Jorye was born in Kamloops and lived his entire life in Chase. Although Jorye had a short time on this earth, he lived his life with purpose and passion. He was a very active member of the Haldane Elementary Green Kids Club, a fierce competitor at the Environmental Mind Grind competition, a top qualifier for Can Spell, a published poet, and a frequent contributor on the local Chase radio station. In 2007, Jorye was the recipient of both the Haldane Citizenship Award and the Spirit of Living Award sponsored by the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC). Throughout these many achievements, Jorye was receiving cancer treatments and actively fund raising for BC Children's Hospital. He definitely made the most of the time he had. Jorye dreamed of one day becoming a broadcaster and that dream was fulfilled when he was invited to spend time at the CTV studio during his illness. His unique spirit touched the lives of the CTV staff members as it has the entire community of Chase. Haldane School was one of Jorye's favorite places. The precious time he spent being a student meant so much to him. The special bonds he formed with all his teachers will always be treasured. Jorye courageously battled cancer for more than three years of his life. First losing a leg to cancer in 2005 and next fighting a year long battle with leukemia that eventually took his life. The community of Chase was blessed with Jorye's presence and is forever better for having known him. The Yeung family would like to thank the many people who eased Jorye's journey during his illness. The staff and volunteers of BC Children's Hospital, Ronald McDonald House and CTV News were an incredible support for Jorye and his family. We love you Jorye - Rest in Peace A celebration of Jorye's life will take place at 11:00 am Sunday, June 1st, 2008 at Art Holding Memorial Arena in Chase, BC. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Oncology Ward, BC Children's Hospital, Vancouver, BC in Jorye's name
