John Russell ‘Jack’ Timmons, 79, of New Glasgow, N.S., passed away peacefully on July 1, 2012, in the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital.
Born in New Waterford, Cape Breton, he was a son of the late Leo and Irene (Pendergast) Timmons.
He lived and worked most of his life in Labrador City, N.L., and New Glasgow, N.S., at Michelin Tire.
Jack was a hard working man, who loved learning. He was extremely well read and always followed current affairs. Cape Breton was his favourite place in the world and always looked forward to his annual trips throughout the island, exploring. When he was younger he loved to bike and took on the challenge of biking the Cabot Trail. As his health failed he sought pleasure from his gardens, books and music.

He was passionate about education and ensured that all his children had the opportunity to obtain a university education. He loved his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren and was interested in and proud of their accomplishments. His constant supporter and life-long companion, Georgetta, loved and cared for him every day. He often spoke of her devotion with awe.

Besides his parents and daughter, he was predeceased by brothers Franklin and Leo.
