We regret to announce the passing of Alex Stack on June 30, 2012, at the Glace Bay Hospital. Alex was a life-long resident of Reserve Mines. He was the son of the late Michael and Anna (Gryson) Stack.
Alex was employed with the Cape Breton County Public Works Department retiring after 25 years service. His previous employment included superintendent of Reserve Mines Water Works and as a coal miner.
Alex will be missed by his daughters, Sandra (John) Kehoe, with whom he resided, Carol (Joseph) Dziubek, Lorna (Michael) MacLean and Audrey (Robert) Jobe. Also by grandchildren, Jo-Ann, Ted, Peter, Jan, Alan, Lyndsay, Dennis and David; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Ethan and Sam; also nephew; Terry McIntyre and nieces; Barbara MacDonald and Joan Winters.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by wife, Jane (MacCormack) Stack, brother, Steve Stack and sister, Marcella MacIntyre.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nursing staff of 3West and doctors David Ley and Carol Boutilier for their kindness and support to Dad and the family.
Donations may be made to St. Joseph’s Cemetery Fund or charity of choice.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 4 at 12 p.m. in Curry’s Funeral Home, 775 Main St., Glace Bay. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Leo Boone officiating. A reception will follow the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in the St. Joseph’s Cemetery, MacLeod’s Crossing.
