Walter Trusler December 2, 1919 - May 30, 2008 Walter Trusler passed away peacefully Friday evening with family at his side. Walter was predeceased by his son Bryan Trusler in June of 1980. He leaves behind his loving wife of 63 years, Mildred, daughter Marguerite, granddaughters Heather and Laura (Anthony) great grand-children Aiyana and Saul, Grandson Shane (Nesta). Walter also leaves behind his son Roy (Dee) and granddaughter Tahnee, Son John (Lucy), granddaughters Jennifer and Shana (Murry) great-grandson Mackenzie. Walter was born in Aberdeen, Saskatchewan and grew up in various parts of British Columbia and Alberta. After leaving school, he travelled and worked across Canada. At the outbreak of WWII he enlisted with the Calgary Highlanders for service overseas. After Dunkirk he transferred to the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry where he served in the Intelligence Core. He was wounded in action in 1945 just prior to the end of the war. Walter and Mildred married in the fall of 1945 in Manchester, England and they returned to Canada. The family led an exciting and adventurous life following Walter's work as an electrician. They lived in various locations throughout B.C. and Alberta before finally settling in Kamloops in 1964. Walter was a member of The Knights of Pythias, The I.B.E.W., and the Legion. Walter spent his retirement years in his garden and at the family cabin at Adams Lake with his family and close friends. We are grateful to Dr. Wilson and the loving staff at the Overlander Extended Care Home who gave Walter the best of care and helped him to live his final years with peace and dignity. A celebration of Walter's life will be held Friday, June 6 at 1:30 p.m. at the Kamloops Funeral Home Chapel .
