Barbara Doucette

DOUCETTE, Barbara Elizabeth (MacKinnon-Parker) - of Dartmouth, formerly of Halifax, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 4, 2012 surrounded by her loving family at home.
Born in New Glasgow and raised in Ponds, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Beulah (Arbuckle) MacKinnon of Lismore. She was educated at East Pictou Rural High School, Mount Saint Vincent Academy and the Halifax Community College. Following graduation, she was employed at the Department of Education (Inspector of Schools / Registrar), Halifax County School Board. Throughout her years of employment with the various facets of the Halifax school system, Barb was outstanding in her commitment to her peers and the responsibilities entrusted to her attention. Her jovial personality and sense of humour were cherished by many collegues, acquaintances, friends and family members. She enjoyed life to the fullest and was always engaged in activ ities of her sons, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters and their families and all the get-togethers. Barb enjoyed bowling and playing cards, but most of all her cottage and cooking. Barb was tireless in her attention and the love that she bestowed unto those to whom she was so devoted especially her beloved grandchildren.
Sadly missed by her husband, George, of 31 years, Dartmouth; sons, Blair (Tina) Parker, Kingswood and thier sons, Klye and Jaiden; Craig (Terri) Parker, Halifax and their daughters, Molly and Megan; Jeff (Hyun Jung), Newfoundland and their son, Marshall; sisters Sue (Leon) Doucetter, New Glasgow; Jane (Kevin) Scott, New Glasgow; brothers, Gordon (Pat) MacKinnon, Lismore; Bill (Pat) MacKinnon, Dartmouth; Philip (Lynda) MacKinnon, Port Elgin, Ontario; Neil (Cindy) MacKinnon, Lismore; Glen (Patsy) MacKinnon, Trenton, NS; brothers-in-law; Russell of Halifax, Joseph (Susan), Gerard (Judy) all of Dartmouth; and brother in her heart, Bud (Thelma) MacPherson; and also many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
Visitations will be held at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., Halifax on Friday, July 6 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will held in Blessed Pope John the XXIII, 35 Colby St., Halifax on Saturday, July 7 at 10 am. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lismore, Pictou County, NS on Saturday July 7, at 3 pm with reception to follow.
