EDWARDS, Ronald Sherwin “Ron”– 83, Newport Station, Hants Co., and resident of Dykeland Lodge, Windsor, passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2012. Born September 19, 1928 in Newport Station, he was a son of the late Carl and Jane (Bouchie) Edwards. Ron was well known for his homemade bread and egg tarts, which even won ribbons at the Hants County Exhibition. He also enjoyed hunting and working in his wood pile. Ron is survived by daughters, Faye, Newport Station; Carol Benedict (Lynn), Three Mile Plains; son, Billy (Kim), Newport Station; granddaughters, Lori Ainslie, Three Mile Plains; Lauren Edwards (Chad), Ottawa; Amanda Miner, Halifax; grandsons, Jason Archibald (Sharon), Woodville, Hants Co.; Sheldon (Ellen) Miner, Hantsport; great-granddaughter, Mackenzie Ainslie, Three Mile Plains; sister, Katherine McIver, Halifax; brother, Wilfred (Barbara), Newport Station; sister-in-law, Maxine Edwards, Windsor. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Irene M. (Riley); brothers, Graham and Carlton “Pegs”; sister, Geraldine Caldwell. 7-9 p.m. Funeral service was held in the funeral home chapel at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 29, Rev. Tom Henderson officiated. A reception was held in the funeral home's Elmcroft Reception Centre with interment following in Ste. Croix Cemetery, St. Croix. Donations in memory of Ron may be made to the St. Thomas Anglican Church, Friends of Dykeland Lodge or a charity of one’s choice.
