McManus, Thomas Michael “Tom”, 97, of Windsor, passed away on Tuesday, July 3, 2012, in the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born on February 23, 1915, in Halifax, he was a life-long resident of Windsor, and was the son of the late Thomas and Lydia (Russell) McManus. Tom along with his late wife, Marguerite, owned and operated McManus Radio & T.V. for over three decades. Tom, at the age of 2 was a survivor of the Halifax Explosion and after the death of his mother (1919), was placed in St. Joseph’s Orphanage, then raised by his aunt, Kate (Russell) “Duke” Hatfield. Tom is survived by his daughters, Valerie (Garnet) Clarke; Beverlee Delamarre; grandson, Bradford (Cassandra) Clarke; sister-in-law, Vivienne (Ron) Maynard. He was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, the former Marguerite Evelyn Begin; siblings, Nora and Mary Ann in infancy; Edward (Blanche Bonang) McManus; Veronica Murphy; Russell (Pearl Campbell) McManus; brothers and sisters-in-law, Madelyn and Burpee Caldwell; Muriel and Gerald Jefferson; Clyde Begin. No formal visitation by request. Funeral service was 1 p.m. Saturday, July 7, 2012, in Christ Church Anglican, 543 King Street, Windsor. The Rev. David Curry officiated, followed by interment in Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor. Memorial donations were requested to be made to the Christ Church Anglican Foundation for the preservation of this historic church; the Veteran’s Fund (Windsor Fire Dept.) or to Unit 500/Palliative Care (Hants Community Hospital).
