CARLAW Kathleen May Carlaw passed away June 18th, 2008 peacefully in her sleep at home in Kamloops at the age of 90 years and one month. Kay was born in St. Albert, Saskatchewan, May 4th, 1918 to Jack and Mary Hurson. She was predeceased by her husband James Carlaw in 1965 and her daughter Merylin Johnson, June 2nd, 2008. Kay is survived by her long time partner Robert (Bob) Shorrock, one son Raymond (Carol) Carlaw, Salmon Arm, grandsons James Carlaw, Edmonton, Dr. Kenneth Carlaw, Kelowna, Dennis Carlaw and great granddaughter Gracie, Edmonton, grandsons Norm (Tracy) Johnson, Wayne (Cheryl) Johnson and three great grandsons Grey, Coulton and Keifer Johnson all of Kamloops. In her early years she lived and worked in Vancouver. They lived in several areas of Vancouver as her and her husband bought, fixed up and sold houses. She worked as a dental assistant and at a large fur coat company. In 1964 she moved to the Shuswap with her husband Jim and together they started a Blind Bay Fishing Resort. After James died she moved to Kamloops in the late 1960's. She worked for a short time at Todd Mountain (Sun Peaks) an adventure she talked of fondly. Kay worked as a food demonstrator for the Kamloops Woodwards Department store. After meeting her long time partner Bob they did a bit of traveling to the southern US and to Hawaii, they also fished in some of the local little lakes. Kay enjoyed her home, a good game of bridge and her little dogs. Funeral services will be held at Personal Alternative Funeral Services, at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 27th, 2008 in Kamloops. Her remains will be scattered by her family at a later date
