It is with heavy hearts that the Norman family must announce that after a long and courageous battle with cancer, Sarah Norman passed away at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital palliative care unit, Sydney, on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010.
Born in Edwardsville, Sarah was the daughter of the late Thomas Lewis and is survived by Lenore Lewis.
Sarah began her career with General Instruments and later dedicated 18 years to Christ Church in Sydney, where she worked as a secretary.
Sarah was a loving, loyal and devoted mother and wife to her family, always putting others before herself. Sarah was an avid reader and had a passion for music.
Sarah leaves behind many to mourn and miss her; her loving husband of 40 years, Roland ‘Paul’ Norman; children, Natalie (Rick Aucoin), Chadwich (Candace DeMone) and Heidi (Troy McLaughlin); grandchildren, Gavin, Brody and Hayley; mother, Lenore Lewis; sisters, Marjorie (Tom Weekes), Eileen Ewert, Kimberley (Paul Lewis), Alexis Lewis; brother, Bradley Lewis and her best friend, Wendy (Bugden) Hannem. She was also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will take place Wednesday, Jan. 6 at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held Thursday, 2 p.m. at the Anglican Parish of the Resurrection Church of Christ the King. All are welcome to join the family for a reception in the parish hall following the service.
Sarah had a huge heart and always gave what she could.
Family flowers only. Any donations can be made in her memory to the Salvation Army and Loaves and Fishes. She always said “Every little bit helps.â€
