THOMAS, EDITH CAVELL - The passing of Edith C. (Hanson) Thomas of McAdam, NB occurred on Sunday, July 08, 2012 at the Wauklehegan Manor, McAdam, NB. Born on June 20, 1925 in Lower Hainesville, NB, she was the daughter of Ralph and Amelia (Tucker) Hanson. Edith was predeceased by her husband W. Irving Thomas in 1999. Survived by her children Eric (Olwen) Thomas of Pickering, ON, Lynn (Wayne) Scott of Upper Kingsclear, NB and Kendel (Louise) Thomas of Lethbridge, AB, grandchildren Aaron (Jennifer) Scott of Hanwell, NB, Sara (Frank Youden) Scott of Halifax, NS, Zoe (Colin) Mitchell of Oyster Pond, NS, Zacharie (Addrine) Thomas of North Gower, ON and Jennifer Thomas of Lethbridge, AB, great-grandchildren Amelia Scott, Rachel Scott, Emma Mitchell, Gavin Thomas, Alexander Mitchell and Kyla Thomas, sisters Vera (Phil) Bird of Beaconsfield, QC, Dianne (Louis) LeBlanc of Riverview, NB, brother Reginald (Margaret) Hanson of Sackville, NB, several nephews and nieces. In addition to her husband, Edith was predeceased by brothers Oscar Hanson and Fred Hanson, sisters Maude Kelly, Geraldine Hull, Effie Hanson, Imogene Stewart and Shirley Hanson. Edith was an avid curler and enjoyed camping with her husband and family. She enjoyed baking, sewing and knitting many things for her family and friends. In her early years in McAdam, Edith worked at Cooks store and, after the children were older, she worked at Eatons catalogue office. For over 60 years Edith was an active member of St. George’s Anglican Church, where she was a member of the Altar Guild for many of those years. The family would like to thank the staff at Wauklehegan Manor for their excellent care of mom. May God bless you all.
At St. George’s Anglican Church, 53 Rockland Drive, McAdam, NB next Thursday, July 19th, 2012 visitation will begin at 12 noon, with the funeral service beginning at 1 pm with Rev. Arnold Godsoe officiating. Reception to follow at church hall. Interment at St. Paul’s Church Cemetery, Zealand, NB at 4 pm.
