We regret to announce the death of our beloved brother, Bill ‘Uncle Bill’ as he was affectionately known by his family, at the Seaview Manor, Glace Bay, on Dec. 29, 2009.
Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late Roland 'Rolie' and Marguerite (Giles) Bagnell.
In the early years, Bill enjoyed riding his bike everywhere and taking pictures. Later, he really enjoyed his video camera. At the Seaview Manor, he had so much fun with all the weekly activities. Mostly, Bill loved the trips the manor would take to the casino; the staff made sure he got there one more time in the fall.
A special thank you to the wonderful staff at Seaview Manor for giving our beloved ‘Uncle Bill’ so many years of attentive care. Bill truly enjoyed spending his day surrounded by the wonderful staff and residents. The last few years, Bill was truly happy and it was in large part to you. We will be forever grateful.
Bill is survived by his brother, Richard (Sylvia); nephews, Bill (Carolyn), Brian (Dawn) and niece, Karen (Ian); brother, Robert (Robina); nieces, Nancy (Stephen) and Sharon Gildert. Uncle Bill was also survived by grandnieces and nephews, Will, Daniel, Josh, Robert, Victoria, Shannon, Emily, Sara, Katie, Matea and Lexi.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his nephew, Dr. Robin ‘Rob’ Gildert.
Visitation for Bill will be held at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney, Friday, Jan. 8, 2010, from 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will take place 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010, in the funeral home chapel. Reception to follow.
Family flowers only please. Donations may be made to the Seaview Manor, Glace Bay, First United Church, Sydney, or the Cape Breton Shrine Club or charity of one’s choice.
