Mary Alice Sanford, Age 87, of Falmouth, Hants County, passed away on Sunday, July 15th, 2012 in the Windsor Elms Village, Falmouth. Born on June 25, 1925 in Cogmagun, Hants County. She was a daughter of the late John and Mina (Sanford) Thomas. Mary taught Sunday School in her earlier years and worked at Avon Valley and Avon Foods. One of Mary’s highlights in life was she won a contest enabling her to have dinner with two cast members from the soap opera Another World. She enjoyed bingo and reading the Hants Journal, romance novels, doing crossword puzzles and baking. Surviving are sister, Edna (Dennis) Jollymore, Lower Sackville; brother, Uhlan (Marie) Thomas, Cogmagun; stepdaughter, Gail Manning, Ellershouse; special nephew, Bernard (January) Higney, Cogmagun, sister-in-law, Mary Thomas, Windsor; brother-in-law, Raymond (Donna) Peach, Falmouth; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by husband, Allison (1970); sisters, Ada, Myrtle, Gladys, Pauline, Beatrice, also Shirley and Sharon in infancy; brothers, Charles and Norman. There was no visitation by request. Funeral service was held 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2012 in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Debra Mosher officiated. Interment was in the Sandyland Cemetery, Cogmagun.
