It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the peaceful passing of Ronald Joseph LeForte at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, on July 15, 2012, after a brief illness.
Born in Glace Bay on Nov. 22, 1939, he was a son of the late Angus Sr. and Mary (MacLean) LeForte.
In earlier years, Ronald was employed with McKinley’s Pop Factory for 12 years. He was later employed with Sally Ann’s Bakery until his retirement in 1989.
Ronald had a love of collecting Die Cast models of antique cars and enjoyed listening to old country and western music. But his strongest love was for his family and he took great pride in providing for and taking care of them. He was a wonderful husband, father, brother and friend and he will be sadly missed by all.
He is survived by wife, the former Joann MacInnis; daughter, Marie, Glace Bay; sisters, Mary (John) Taylor, Glace Bay, Ann Monfalcone, Massachusetts; brothers, Daniel (Cathy), Angus, both of Glace Bay; several nieces and nephews; dear friend and cousin, Clifford Detcheverry (Anna); close friend and neighbour, Greg MacLeod.
Besides his parents, Ronald was predeceased by maternal grandparents, Dan and Anne Jane MacLean; paternal grandparents, John and Louise LeForte; special uncle and friend, A. Joseph MacLean; nephew, Daniel Taylor; brother-in-law, Joseph Monfalcone.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. Cremation will follow. Funeral mass will be celebrated Friday at 11 a.m. in St. Anthony’s Church with Fr. Norman MacPhee officiating. Burial in St. Anthony’s Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made in Ronald’s name to the Canadian Cancer Society or War Amps of Canada, Nova Scotia Division.
