JOYCE BERNICE MICKELSON Born March 30, 1926 in Russell, Manitoba, passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 8, 2008 in her home in Kamloops, BC. Eldest daughter of Wesley and Jean (Cameron) Schwalm. Previously deceased by her husband of 50 years, Roy Mickel Mickelson, her brothers Lorne, Lyle and Wesley, and her grandson Eric. Lovingly remembered by her daughter Heather (Larry), her son Ross, her grandchildren Mark and Sarah, her son Barry, and numerous family and friends. Joyce had a rich, fulfilling life, with a wide variety of interests, and an unending curiosity. She generously volunteered her time in a variety of community activities to enrich the lives of others. She was actively involved in the Westview United Church, the Yorkton Regional Bandboosters, the Sagebrush Theatre, and the Naturalists Society. Playing bridge provided Joyce much joy throughout the decades. She had an affection for nature which she pursued with gardening, birdwatching and hiking. She loved to participate in activities with her family including skiing, golfing and travel. She was a gracious host to all those who were welcomed into their home. Intrigued and fascinated by her business ventures, Joyce enjoyed the relationships developed through them. A joyous highlight of Joyce's life was joining Dame Edna on the stage with the Dame proclaiming with a kiss "I love you Joyce".
