It is with great sadness that the family of the late Alphonsus Liguori O’Connell announce his peacefully passing at the Palliative Care Unit in the Western Memorial Regional Hospital on July 20, 2012 at the age of 79 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Rita (nee Benoit), of 58 years. Sons: Pius (Linda) of Hare Bay, Alphonsus Jr. (Debbie), Liguori (Kathy), Danny of Benoits Cove, Felix of Grande Cache Alberta, daughters: Mary (David), Debbie (Keith) of Ontario, Jude of Birchy Bay, Stella (John) of Virgin Arm, Amanda (Darren) of Stoneville NL, Cindi (Rick) of Ontario, Kelly (Peter) of Benoits Cove. Brothers: Lawerance (Sandra) Quebec, Jerry (Shirley), Martin, Benoits Cove, sisters: Bernadette, Maxine, Benoits Cove, Anita (Danny), Ontario and Caroline, Augustus, Benoits Cove. Also there are a large number of grandchildren and a very large circle of nieces, nephews relatives and friends. He is predeceased by his parents John and Kathleen, two children: Gloria & Neila, his mother & father-in-law William & Mary of Benoits Cove. Brothers: William & Mike, sons-in-law: Howard White & Duke Kennedy, sister–in-law Mame O’Connell, brothers-in-law: James Wayson and Donald (Butch) Critch and several grandchildren. Visitation to take place at Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road on Saturday July 21, 2012 from the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Cremation to take place. Funeral Service to take place on Monday July 23, 2012 from Our Lady Star of the Sea Parish, Benoits Cove at 11.30 a.m. with Father Bernard Buckle officiating. Interment to follow at the church cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit of the Western Memorial Regional Hospital or the Canadian Cancer Society.
