Vera Stella May Hodge

Date de décès : 23 juillet 2012

aged 81 (May 30, 1931). Passed to her new life with our Heavenly Father on July 23, 2012. Her earthly pain and suffering having ended, she was greeted by her husband Malcolm and daughter Shirley in the presence of Jesus. Vera is survived by her children: Willie (Nellie) Hodge; Pauline Porter; Judy Collins; Sharon (Clayton) Crews; Rick (Theresa) Hodge; Karen (Marcus) Emberley; Kevin (Judy) Hodge; and grand-daughter she raised - Tammi (Richard) Hewitt. Loved also by her 12 cherished grandchildren; her 15 great-grandchildren, brothers, sisters and many nieces, nephews and friends, including her dearest friend Mary Saunders. Vera was born and grew up in Triton, NL, where she had many treasured memories of the people and events of her childhood. She moved to Main Brook, NL in 1950 to start life as a wife and mother. Through the years she lived in Labrador City, Mount Pearl and several other communities. She will be remembered as a strong woman who dedicated her life to her family. Vera's spiritual values guided her from youth and through her final days with us. She trusted God for all of her needs, lived in constant prayer, and kept her faith through many sorrows and difficulties. Though she did not consider herself to be a perfect person, she remains an inspiration and example to family and friends. Her sense of humour will be missed! 2 Tim.4:6-8, “… the time has come for my departure. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.” Vera's life and legacy will be celebrated in a service at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Ave., St. John’s, NL, on Thursday, July 26 at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 and Wednesday, July 25, 2012 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Interment will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, St. John’s, NL.
