GLADYS HUGHES 1924 - 2008 Gladys A. Hughes of Kamloops passed away on October 13, 2008 at 83 years of age. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Faith Hughes of Calgary, David Hughes of Calgary, and Ruth Hughes (Bruce Garson) of Kamloops; grandchildren Christopher and Jennifer Hughes, Doug and Annie Drinkwater, and Emma Garson; her siblings Wylla Webb, Jack (Erika) Carroll, Len Carroll, and Karen (Keith) Boughton. Predeceased by her husband Wesley Joseph Hughes, and sons Wesley Karl Hughes and Wesley Thomas Hughes. Gladys Annetta Hughes was born on December 24, 1924 in Treherne, Manitoba to Thomas Carroll and Myrtle Leader. She was raised in Bagot, Manitoba and moved to Prince Rupert, B.C. where she met and married her husband Wesley. She raised her family of four children in Kamloops where she resided for over 55 years. Gladys worked at Royal Inland Hospital for many years and after retirement enjoyed travelling, the occasional university course and her many hobbies. Gladys was a founding member of the Evangelical Free Church in Kamloops and took an active interest in many world charities. Her wit and wisdom, ingenuity and creativity, love and caring, and steadfast faith, will forever be remembered and greatly missed. Special thanks to the staff on 5 North at Royal Inland Hospital. A Memorial Tea Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2008 at the Shores Retirement Residence, 870 Westminster Avenue, Kamloops.
