In Loving Memory of Gerhard Martin Kannenberg Gerhard (Gary) Kannenberg of Kamloops died on October 22, 2008 after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. Gerhard was born in Merunen, Germany on December 20, 1939 to Johann and Martha Kannenberg. He and his family came to Canada in 1952 where they resided in Vassar, Manitoba for a year before moving and settling in Regina, Saskatchewan. In 1960, Gerhard married Muriel Sweatman, together they had three children and in 1972, they moved to and settled in Kamloops where he earned the reputation as one of the best painter contractors in many of the well-established residential subdivisions you see in Kamloops today. Gary is survived by his three children: Linda McRae and William Black, Lyle (Lucy) Kannenberg and Theresa Kannenberg and Hirohisa Kudo, his five grandchildren: Malcolm, Kelvin, Ethan, Deston and Celina, brothers: Fred Kannenberg, Karl Giesler, Robert Kannenberg, and Herbert Kannenberg, sisters: Antonie Moranz, Hilda Mesa, Lisa Farah and Anita Kannenberg, two Aunts: Erika Selk and Else Rogge both living in Germany, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother Martha, father Johann, stepmother Hedwig, sister Hedwig (Heta) Dombrowski, brothers-in-law: Lothar Dombrowski, Gunther Mesa and Arnold Moranz as well as his sister-in-law Joyce Kannenberg. Gary was a wonderful person, strong, honest and hard working, he took great pride in his work, and he always loved music, a good joke, a good meal and a good drink with friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. A Remembrance open house will be held for Gary at his home (6697 Beaver Crescent) on Friday, October 31, 2008 from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. The family requests that any expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Hospice Home or to the Canadian Cancer Society in Memory of Gerhard Kannenberg. We would like to express our grateful thanks to Dr. C.D. Stabler and the staff at the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Hospice Home for the excellent care and support that they provided. We are forever grateful. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Personal Alternative Funeral Services. (250) 554-2324.
