VERN A. J. TOURAND 1935 - 2008 Vern Tourand of Kamloops, B.C. passed away on November 29, 2008 at his home with his loving family by his side, after a long and courageous battle with diabetes. Vern was born on April 30, 1935 in Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan. Vern moved from Meadow Lake to Kamloops in 1965, which was where he met and married his wife Sherry in 1966. He worked at many jobs, as a carpenter, driving snowplow for the Department of Highways, and as a restaurateur. But his greatest source of pride came with the arrival of his son Greg, whom he loved and adored with his whole heart. Vern is survived by his wife Sherry and son Greg; his brother Paul (Theresa) Tourand and families, sister-in-law Irene Tourand and families, sister-in-law Jean (Ken) Kemash and families, sister-in-law Donna Trimble and families, brother-in-law Bob Trimble and families, and brother-in-law Tonie Trimble and families; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and many friends in locations across Western Canada. Vern was predeceased by his infant son Andrew, his mother Rose, stepfather Andrew, brothers Pudgy Tourand, Philip Tourand, and John Houle, and sister Florence. Also the Nurses on 3 West at Royal Inland Hospital, and the great Ambulance Crew and Paramedics who attended Vern. At Vern’s request there will be no formal ceremony.
