DENEAULT Wally Albert Deneault, 61 years old, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 13, 2008, at the hospice from cancer. He was surrounded by loving friends and family. Wally was born in Merritt on September 21, 1947, a twin to his sister Irene Adams nee Deneault. Wally was predeceased on December 21, 1950, by his father Albert Deneault. Wally is survived by his loving wife Wendy Rockwell; son Ryan Deneault, daughter Rachelle Best nee Deneault (Chris Best), son Kurt Deneault (Angela Deneault nee Bruno); step-daughters Shaun and Tanya Sanders; granddaughters Hailey Deneault, Lauren Best, Aliyah Deneault; mother Ann (Annie, Anne) Deneault nee Blair; sisters Beverly Quinn nee Deneault (Errol), Irene Adams nee Deneault, brothers Chief Rick Deneault (Denise Deneault), Joseph Deneault; niece Nicole Deneault, nephews Christopher Adams, Bradley Deneault, and niece Jolene Adams. The family would like to thank all of the visitors at both the hospital and the hospice. Special thanks to David Manuel for the smudge and drumming that eased Wallys journey to the Creator. Elders Evelyn Camille and Loretta Seymour offered prayers and brought comfort to his journey home. Wally had so many wonderful friends and extended family members who are too numerous to mention here. Wally was many things in his life time: most notably he was an inspiration to so many of his people. As a young man Wally played junior hockey for the Kamloops Rockets and was drafted by the Detroit Red Wings. For his work with youth he was awarded the For Kids` Sake Award by Todays Parent magazine. Many took comfort in seeing his little orange car outside of Sk`elep School of Excellence where he was an education assistant, coach, mentor, ran countless programs, mowed the lawn, shovelled the snow, and so much more. In lieu of flowers the family would like donations of any size to be made to the Wally Deneault Memorial Education Fund at the Interior Savings Credit Union. Wallys service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at Mount Paul Center.
