(Edith) ANN SKELLY (nee Albersworth) September 10, 1940 - December 18, 2008 We are so sad to announce the sudden and tragic death of our Mom, Ann Skelly. Driving on a road she knew like the back of her hand, she left the road near Hoffmans Bluff and sustained fatal injuries. Ann leaves behind her son Matthew Skelly (Susie Cizek) and his daughter Kianna; her daughter Nevada Skelly (Jack Mendes) and her children Brandyn Evans and Taylor Evans; step-children Chris Mendes and Alex Mendes. To her grandkids, she will always be Annie Grannie. Ann came into this world resilient and was a born survivor. She was born on a cold September day in Blue Sky Alberta literally in a barn. Suffice to say, her young life was filled with challenges and trials that she met with vigor. She was the youngest of seven kids; Lloyd, Paul, and her favourite brother Richard, all of which are deceased. She leaves behind two sisters, Nancy and Mable and numerous nieces and nephews. When she was about 19, she decided to head to a warmer; climate and moved to Edmonton! She attended business school and later landed a job in Fort St. John at the Fort Hotel. This is where she met her husband-to-be, John Skelly. He offered her a job in 1961 at his radio station in Fort St. John (CKNL). In 1963, Ann married the boss and the rest is history. In 1964, son Matthew was born. Ann was born to be a Mom. In 1967, daughter Nevada was born. Later that same year, the little Skelly family moved to Kamloops. By 1969, Ann was working at Radio NL in Kamloops and remained at Dads side until Radio NL changed ownership in 1985. During this time she also obtained her real estate license and worked in that field. In 1985, Ann began her career with B.C. Lottery Corporation. This was an incredibly fulfilling time in her life. Ann established many friendships along the way at BCLC both with staff and retailers in Northern B.C. and the Lower Mainland and truly loved working at her various positions most recently as a Regional Manager in Richmond. Ann retired a few years ago from BCLC but it never left her heart. Matt and I would like to thank the Emergency Response team that attended Moms accident and treated her so well. We would also like to thank the incredible emergency medical staff at R.I.H. that treated Mom with such great care and treated us so well during this horrific time. It goes without saying that this has been a tragic loss for our family but we know that Mom would want us to gather and remember the good times and celebrate her life. We invite you to attend her Celebration on Saturday, December 27, 2008 at 2:00 p.m., at Schoenings Funeral Home, 513 Seymour Street, Kamloops. We know Mom would love if you could bring any memories you would like to share in stories or photos, etc. Reception to follow at Schoenings. Should friends desire, donations to a charity of your choice in Moms name would be appreciated. Roses are Red Violets are Blue Sugar is Sweet But Nowhere Near as Sweet as You We love you so much Annie Grannie
