In Loving Memory of Caroline Tarry Nov. 20, 1923 - Jan. 11, 2009 Mom passed away January 11, 2009 at Royal Inland Hospital with her family at her side. She has gone to join Dad who predeceased her in 1994. Also predeceased by her brothers George and Dan Mattey. Mom is survived by son Bob (Diane), daughters Brenda (Lyle) and Laura (John), sister-in-law Hazel Holweg, seven grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Mom was born and raised in Chase, and often shared fond memories of riding her horse Buck on the hillsides in the area. In January,1945 Mom and Dad were married, and they moved to Adams Lake where they lived until 1992. While Dad worked in the mill, Mom keep the books and ran the office at Holding Lumber Co. in the early years, and Sales Manager for a number of years before she retired. For many years she was the only woman in a mans world of lumber, and she was known and respected by her peers throughout North America. Life was busy in the small community of Adams Lake. Mom was a charter member of the Adams Lake Womens Institute (a very active community organization), the First Aid attendant for the mill and thereby the unofficial doctor for anyone who was sick or hurt, from the most severe industrial accident to a childs scraped knee from falling off a bike or out of a tree. Moms passionate hobbies were her animals, horses, dogs, cats and budgies to name a few, and her flowers. Mom and Dad moved to Chase in 1992, where Mom pursued her love of flowers and gardening, winning the Best Landscaped Garden Award on three different occasions. She was also able to become more involved in the Anglican Church, and for a number of years, many beautiful flower arrangements found their way to the Church every Sunday morning, along with several parishioners who needed a ride and arrived in her little white van. Mom moved to Parkside Estates in December, 2007 where she reconnected with many acquaintances and lifelong friends, and enjoyed taking part in various social activities. A Service will be held to celebrate Moms life in the Chase Community Hall on Saturday, January 17, 2009 at 3:30 p.m. with Reverend Bob Crosby officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Royal Inland Hospital Foundation, 311 Columbia Street, Kamloops, BC V2C 2T1 would be appreciated.
