David Lewis Jones of Kamloops passed away on February 5, 2009 at the age of 85 years. David is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, June Jones; daughter Patricia (Rodger) Hort of Kamloops, daughter Lorraine Cotter Jones of Lillooet, and son David (Brenda) Jones of Revelstoke; and his beloved grandchildren Amanda, Jeffery, Michelle, Elysia and Michael. Predeceased by his parents, Dorothy and Noel Jones of Prince Rupert. David was born May 12, 1924 in Vernon, BC. He lived in the Queen Charlotte Islands, Prince Rupert and Lewis Island. Dave joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1942. David and June were married on August 19, 1949 in Prince Rupert. He loved music and was in several bands including The Yellowhead Express, the Sentimental Journey Band, and was a founding member of the Swing and Jazz Society. Around Kamloops and the North Thompson Valley he was known as "Mr. Harmonica." Dave loved the outdoors, he camped and fished his whole life and was always outside. He was a passionate outdoorsman and an avid fly fisherman since the 1950s. Dave owned and operated "Moose Camp" out of Clearwater, a hunting and fishing camp that was visited by people from all over North America. David and June moved to Kamloops in 1980. <B> His spirit lives on in all the people he touched </B>Special thanks to Mary, Lisa, and all the wonderful nurses and volunteers at Kamloops Hospice for their loving care of Dave, and also to Dr. Kruger. The Celebration of David's Life will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 14, 2009 in the Kamloops Funeral Home Chapel, with Canon Jack Phelps officiating.
