HODGSON Mom passed away peacefully just six weeks before her 102nd birthday. She is survived by her daughter Joan Isaac, her son John "Alan" Hodgson and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband John M. Hodgson in 1981. Born in Kamloops on St. Patrick's Day, 1907, Kathleen Patricia became the name of the youngest of ten Dayton siblings. Growing up on the Dayton's Rose Hill homestead, she had many adventures and shared those stories right up to her last days. Mom was proud to be an R.N., graduating in the R.I.H. nursing class of 1929, just in time for the great depression. She was grateful to have work at R.I.H., including posts of night supervisor and O.R. supervisor. Mom left R.I.H. when she married Dad in 1938. They moved to England, just in time for WWII. Mom nursed there while Dad helped build some secret war facilities. Returning to Kamloops mid war, they started a family, with Joan, then 15 years later, Alan. She raised two children, over 33 years, into her sixties. She also "specialed" as a nurse during this time. Since then, she has lived quietly, helping where she could with family, friends and neighbours. As she lived on, she became the much loved matriarch of the Dayton descendants. There was a huge gathering of family and friends, on her 100th, some who missed that, came to her 101st. Mom stayed cheerful through her final year, even during her last week of quick physical decline. We are grateful to the loving staff of Pine Grove Care Centre, Dr. John Reid, the Brown family and all who helped through the years. A Celebration of Life will be held in March, near her 102nd birthday, details to be announced. Donations to the Royal Inland Hospital Foundation, in memory of Kathleen would be appreciated.
